Biography

I originally hail from Fairbanks, Alaska and have crisscrossed North America for my graduate and post-graduate work. Outside of my academic and scholarly interests, it should be no surprise that I enjoy both traveling and the outdoors. I am a fly fisherman by birth and enjoy fishing fresh flowing water. It is a family rite to fish the Au Sable river in Northern Michigan each May. I enjoy any time working on my 1969 Plymouth GTX and hope to one day be able to do a full restoration, but who knows if I’ll ever have the time to do it myself! I very much enjoy the pursuit and acquirement of new knowledge and look forward to the many challenges that lay ahead.
