Biography

I received my undergraduate degree from Miami University in Oxford Ohio, majoring in chemical engineering.  After that, I spent a year working as a research assistant to Dr. Justin Saul, also at Miami.  It was during this time that my passion for regenerative medicine was fostered and I chose to pursue a PhD.  I’m especially interested in the intersection of materials science and regenerative medicine – exploring how we can control the body’s behavior during the healing process by developing advanced materials.  Thus, I’m excited by the opportunity afforded to me by joining Dr. Leipzig’s lab!  The University setting is particularly exciting to me, as I can explore both my core interests and new areas – I take a holistic approach to learning, rather than focusing just on science and engineering.  Outside of lab, I enjoy competitive cycling (mountain and road), reading, strategy board games, coffee, and anything mechanical (I rebuilt a 1999 Triumph Sprint ST…which I promptly sold to my brother)!
