Biography

Although I was born in Weslaco, Texas, I have spent the majority of my life in the Northeast Ohio area. I have always been interested in the sciences and decided to pursue Biomedical Engineering in college. As an undergraduate, I was enrolled in the honors college and a member of BMES, SWE, and Tau Beta Pi. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in May 2010, graduating Summa Cum Laude; currently I am working towards my PhD in Chemical Engineering, with a tissue engineering specialization. My research focuses on tension-induced axon growth for the application of CNS tissue engineering. I enjoy staying active and a number of outdoor activities including skiing, cycling, and playing volleyball with friends.
